I’ve been following Alex Elle on Instagram for a while now and her expression with words never ceases to amaze me; her truth is powerful and inspiring, yet she is present in her vulnerability. She allows her struggles to be a source of strength for others.  Many times I’ve read her work and I’ve felt like she was speaking directly to me.

I came across this quote on her page and I began to reflect on it. As I took a short drive down memory lane, I thought about all of the times that I’ve allowed fear to hinder my growth. I was too scared to take that leap, too scared to explore something new, too scared of what other people would think. I placed my goals and dreams inside a box because I was afraid of what would happen if they were unleashed and allowed to grow… it’s called a comfort zone (stagnation). You cannot and will not grow living in your comfort zone, trust me!

I used to be fearful about starting a blog. I would often think to myself… “What if no one wants to read it?” “Why would anyone care about what I have to say?”  Self doubt… it is powerful and often accompanies fear. I already knew what it was like to be stagnant because I was actively living in that state. So, I made a simple decision to step outside of my comfort zone and I’m so thankful I rose above my fears and took that one step! I am fulfilled, not because I have a blog, but because I am able to reach out to YOU!  Even if it doesn’t work out exactly like I’ve planned, I’m so happy I’m doing this and I have faith that God will lead me to my destiny.

There will be many decisions in your life that may scare you or cause you to doubt yourself, but never allow it to stop you from pursuing your passion and achieving your dreams!!! Always remember that everything happens for a reason. What is for you, will be for you… No one, including yourself, can stop the blessings that God has waiting for you.  You will never know what’s out there until you take the first step! And even if you fall or stumble along the way, it’s all in preparation for what God has planned for you. So, what are you waiting for, go make your dreams a reality…I promise it will be worth it!!!

Hair: I posted a pic to Facebook indicating I wanted to try this protective style. It was a much needed break from manipulating my hair. I parted my hair into 3 sections and I just followed the style in the pic. For a view of the back, you can look at my post here . Overall, it look about an hour to complete from start to finish.
