What is the LOC Method? And why should you incorporate it into your hair regimen?

The LOC Method stands for Liquid (or Leave-in conditioner), Oil, and Cream (or moisturizing hair butter). It is a method used to maximize moisture retention as well as a guide to assist in which order to apply your product.

Trial and error is inevitable when you’re traveling through your natural hair journey and you’ll learn that patience is truly a virtue. Over the course of my journey, I’ve experienced my fair share of trial and error (and continue to do so). Prior to my discovery of the LOC Method, I continued the same wash routine I had when my hair was relaxed, I was uneducated about the importance of sealing in moisture, but when you know better, you do better… Right!?!

LOC Method:
Liquid (aka water) or leave-in conditioner: This is your first step; water is always the best source of moisture. If you choose to use a leave-in conditioner for this step, look for a water based leave-in conditioner (water should be listed as the first ingredient).

Oil: Next apply a thin layer of oil to seal in the moisture. Use an oil that works best for your hair’s porosity and density.

Cream: And finally, apply a cream or butter based moisturizer. This also helps to seal in moisture and enhance your natural curl definition.

Trial and Error: Be mindful that this is a guide. Ultimately, you should be using products based on what your hair needs. This method can be customized. You may find that LCO works better or you may have to try various oils or cream/butter products until you find the right combination.

**Note: For naturals with low porosity, this method can cause product build up. Use light oils and creams to seal moisture and be sure clarify your hair or incorporate an ACV Rinse to your wash day regimen.**

Do you use the LOC Method?

Thank you for stopping by!!!!
