OMG!!! When I incorporated Oil Rinsing into my wash routine, my hair began singing “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!” I have low porosity hair which makes moisturizing very difficult, once I started oil rinsing I noticed an immediate difference in my hair and my styles last longer.
How it works:
1. Shampoo/Co-wash hair and rinse with warm water to open cuticle
2. Apply a liberal amount of (olive, coconut, avocado, castor) oil to wet hair
3. Apply conditioner, cover with plastic cap and allow to sit for 3-5 minutes
4. Rinse with cool water to close cuticle
** If you use the L.O.C Method, you’re ready to apply a water-based cream/butter to your hair and style as desired**
Yes, ladies, it’s that simple! I personally like using castor oil for step 2, I love how moisturizing my hair feels afterwards. My advice is to use which ever oil works best for the porosity and density of your hair.
Why you should be oil rinsing:
1. Moisture retention
2. Reduces frizz
3. Smoothes hair
4. Provides hair with natural shine
5. Easier detangling
6. Less single strand knots
Have you tried oil rinsing? If so, what oils do you like to use?
XOXO,
Tamara

Yes I’ve tried this method on my daughters hair, and it did keep her hair more moisturized during the week. I used Castor Oil and I was pleased with the results, but I think I’ll try another type of oil next time, maybe shea, carrot, or grape seed.

I recently tried avocado oil and I’m starting to like it a lot. It’s lightweight, yet moisturizing. You should try it on your daughter’s hair!
