Happy Monday Beauties!!!!
Hello!!! My name is Tamara and I’m an impulsive shopper. That’s how I would have introduced myself several months ago. Well… Actually, that’s not true because I didn’t realize it at the time that’s who I was becoming. Shopping gave me great pleasure (and still does). I would fantasize about ALL of the places I would go to wear these new clothes I’d just purchased (but didn’t need). I was living in “la la” land and I needed to wake up quickly because my bank account was looking at the reality of my dream. Unfortunately, as a result, my wardrobe was not a true reflection of my personal style, leaving me with a closet full of unworn clothes.
Day in and day out I’ve followed the same routine (work, eat, take care of my dad, sleep… repeat). I felt like my life had no real purpose. I was unhappy, unmotivated, and the stress of being a caregiver had taken it’s toll mentally. I was putting the needs of others before my own. I needed an outlet, a mental escape and shopping provided that for me.
So…I created an outlet, which you’re reading now. I decided to pursue my passion and not allow outside sources to determine my happiness. Almost immediately things started changing in my life for the better. This blog allows me to put all of the things I’m passionate about in one place and share it with the world and if only one person is blessed by this blog, then I’ve accomplished my goal.
As for my shopping habits… I no longer shop for temporary gratification. I shop my closet first. Then, if I don’t have what I need, I’ll shop for it. Now, I shop with a purpose and when I find myself picking up something just because it’s caught my eye, I’ll ask myself… “Do you love this?” If not, I put it back. I consider how many outfits I can possibly create with what I already have. If I can create more than 3, it’s worth the purchase (Got this idea from TheDaileigh.com). I’ve found that I save money and I avoid making purchases that don’t coincide with my style.
What I’m wearing:
Forever 21 oversize sweater (similar here) / The Limited blue button up (similar here) / Express black skinny jeans (here) / Dolce Vita booties (old, try these here) / The Limited handbag (old, similar here)
Makeup:
I’m wearing Mary Kay’s medium foundation coverage in Bronze 4; The Nudes eye shadow palette by Mabelline; my Lipstick is also by Mabelline (645 Red Rival).
Hair:
My hair is a refreshed week old flat twist out. To accomplish this style, I misted my hair with water and applied a small amount of castor oil to seal the moisture. I used Creme of Nature’s Butter-licious Curls and created 8-10 chunky flat twists. I love flat twisting my hair because I’m able to achieve definition starting at the root. To create ringlets at the ends of my twist, I finger coil about half-inch to 1-inch from the ends. Remember, to achieve curly results twist in small sections; to achieve wavy results twist in larger sections (I typically twist in medium sections). Once my hair is completely dry, I apply oil to my fingertips and gently unravel the twists. I lift the roots with a pick to ensure the parts are covered and to create shape. Be careful not to over manipulate your hair to prevent unwanted frizz.

Yep….I’ve had many impulsive shopping experiences, and I still do. I overcome by putting the laptop down, or going to another website. (I’m an online shopper.) If I still want it just as bad after not thinking about it for a while, then I may go ahead and get it. Usually the time away from the computer makes me realize that I didn’t really need it after all.

LOL, that online shopping will get you! I’ve had to stop going to my favorite online sites just to “look”. Instead, now I have a specific item I’m looking to find and that has helped me a lot!
