Who enjoys detangling on wash day??? I know I don’t, especially when I am not motivated to wash my hair. Guess what??? I have a simple solution for you… Pre-Poo!!! It’s exactly what it sounds like, you prep your hair prior to shampooing.
How it works:
- Choose one (or two) of your favorite: an oil, conditioner or honey.
- Separate your hair into at least 4 sections.
- Detangle with a wide tooth comb or finger detangle from ends to roots.
- Apply your choice of pre-poo to each section (twist or braid sections to prevent tangles.)
- Cover with plastic cap with or without heat, allow to sit for 30 mins to a hour or overnight (depending on your hair’s need).
- Rinse out and follow your normal wash day regimen.
Benefits of Pre-poo:
- Easier detangling
- Moisture retention
- Helps to restore natural oils
- Reduces breakage
- Improves manageability
Keep in mind that you may have to experiment with various oils or products to find the right mixture for your hair’s need. It may seem a little pointless because you are washing the mixture out, but I highly recommend it. I pre-poo before every wash and I’ve noticed a big difference in the manageability of my hair as well as less breakage.
What ingredients do you use to pre-poo? Thank you for stopping by!!!
XOXO

Hey Bella!
I’ve recently started using Egg honey & coconut oil as a pre poo for me and my daughter. I apply to dry hair and let sit for 20 minutes then shampoo and condition. Leaves hair soft and shiny!

Thank you Monica for sharing!!! Do you separate the yolk from the egg whites or do you just mix it all together. When I tried egg, I rinsed with lukewarm water and had egg whites all in my hair.

I’m gonna try this on my 2 little girls’ hair this week.
Thanks, Bella!
