Say Goodbye to Summer and Hello to Fall!!! Who’s looking forward to cooler days and chilly nights… Not me! (lol) As the temperature cools, you may begin to notice a change in the way your hair looks and feels. The air is drier and less humid, so your hair care routine will need a few minor adjustments. To prepare your hair for the Fall, I have gathered 7 tips to get you started.

  1. Drink more water *This is so hard for me*!!! Healthy hair starts from within… Water (along with diet) plays a vital role in the growth of your hair. Without water, the hair follicles cannot receive the nutrients needed for optimum hair growth.
  2. Get a trim! Begin the season with a fresh trim especially if you have worn your hair out (wash-n-go’s, twist out, braid out, etc.) during the summer… Your hair will Thank You for it!!!
  3. Who doesn’t like a good scalp massage!?! Massage your scalp daily to increase blood flow to your hair follicles. This is also a great way to oil your scalp at the same time!
  4. Deep condition your hair with heat (use a steamer, hooded dryer or a hot towel from the drying machine). Remember, heat lifts the cuticles, this will allow the conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft.
  5. Protective styles… This is the perfect time to experiment with updos and pin-up styles, just keep in mind that the purpose of protective styling is to minimize manipulation, protect your ends, and maintain moisture retention.
  6. Line your hats and headwraps with satin to prevent dryness, frizz and to reduce friction cause from rubbing your hair against the collar of your clothing.
  7. Seal your ends with an oil. The ends of your hair are the oldest and most susceptible to breakage due to dryness.

How do you prepare your hair for Fall?
